Author Topic: where does the Cuda tail emblem go exactly? (Read 1432 times)

I am painting my 1971 'Cuda. I have a new reproduction "by Plymouth" emblem ordered and it should not be hard to install. If I remember correctly, there are a couple of holes in the panel already. My question is, where exactly does the word Cuda go? I have seen it centered over the "by Plymouth" emblem and I have seen it with Cuda and the by Plymouth emblems trailing edges lined up. Does anyone have a factory stock picture or know how it goes?

Thanks anyway guys, (thanks for nothing, lol) but I think I got it figured out on my own. I found an old dealer brochure from 1971. The picture looks like it was drawn but since it is from a genuine brochure, the emblem spacing is close enough for me. If anyone can get any more accurate than that, let me know.

It looks like the trailing edge of the word 'Cuda and the trailing edge of the square emblem "by Plymouth" line up.

I have seen them even with the trunk key hole, slightly above the key hole and even some of them with the bottom of the letters even with the top of the key hole, and always on the drivers side of the key hole. Since they where a dealer installed they vary greatly.

Barry Washington, AKA AlaskenT/A had I drawing showing the dealer how and where to install the emblem, and it show the location as your dealer picture.

didnt know they were dealer installed.
That explains why theyre installed in so many different spots!
I had wondered this myself, and though mine isnt original, I prefer the trailing edges lined up and centered on the lock.
I just think it looks best. I doubt the judges would deduct for it.

and PS, I love this angle shot on 71 cudas for some reason. Its my desktop background on my laptop, and what I see every night when I come home and open up my garage.
