    hot steering column

    I put hedman headers (ceramic) on my 440 engine and I'm having heat problems ... The heat is traveling up the column and can be felt all the way up to the crushcan and even on the ignition and key!

    Has anyone ever experienced this?  Any advice??

    Is your steering column seal in place.
    if it is missing or slipped out of column heat will enter column shaft.

    I'm currently running stock exhaust manifolds and on hot days my steering column gets pretty hot to the touch, and that's with a SB I'm sure it's worse w/ a BB.   Matt

    there was another thread on this about a week ago , there should be a plastic collar at the bottom of the column held in with a 3 pint E snap ring to seal the column , if it si missing that would be the problem
