I have a 3-speed motor that was originally purchased from Jerry in Orange City, Fl, during the car's restoration and the motor does not park.  After installing the motor and all of the correct arms, the switch was activated and the wipers cycled and parked when the switch was turned off.  This was repeated a total of 3 times in the garage and all was well with the wipers stopping and parking each time.  About a week later, I actually used the wipers in the rain for the first time and they stopped in the middle of the windshield when turned off and did not park.  When I got home,  I unplugged the harness and ran the bench checks for operation and parking. The motor does not park or move at all when the park test is run.  Any ideas on what is wrong?  Thanks.

Since I never received a call or email regarding the correct crank arm and clip that I can recall, nor one now that the motor will not park yet, I'm wondering if you've resolved the issue?  If you contact me, I can make sure that you have the proper crank arm, etc. The crank arm number you're looking for is 2822289 and you'll need a wiper link retainer clip as well, which I can also assist with.

The motor not parking is probably just due to being run without a crank arm and binding and overheating.  I've offered to take care of that as well, just gimme a shout?

My windshield wipers did not work when I needed them yesterday.  When I opened the grille in front of the windshield, I saw the wiper motor with a nut on the shaft.  The long wiper arm was sitting in the drain well unconnected.  It appears to me that this long arm does not connect directly to the wiper motor shaft but there must be a shorter arm that does and helps to rotate that long arm.  Am I correct and where can I get the rest of the wiper assembly so the wipers will work?  If I am incorrect, does this long arm connect directly to the wiper motor shft? Thanks!

Well dude I can tell you exactly why your wiper motor does not park....because you hooked the drive link directly up to the motor instead of installing your drive crank up to the motor then your drive link up to the drive crank thus damaging the park switch plate and probably scouring your bronze bushing in the end of the drive link badly....I would check it for damage.
Fortunately for you we have a Life Time warranty on the wiper motors as long as you own the car.....even customer induced problems.
All you had to do was call either Kim or me.

I found another post from you....I'm beginning to think you are just a whiner.... :dupe:if you would have bothered to call or go to the website you would have known that "as long as you are the original purchaser" warranty does not expire, so your comment is a bunch of crap.

No, actually there is another way.  I have been driving the car a lot on the highway and with 4.10 gears in the rear, the engine has to wind higher than it really needs to.  Since I don't race the car either at the strip or on the street, 4.10 gears are not really needed.  I have a 3.55 gear kit that I got over a year ago and if I swap to 3.55 gears, the speedo will be correct with the 42 tooth gear in the tranny.  Of course, then the odometer will be short 15 percent but I can deal with that.  I just don't want to take apart the dash to get the speedo out as that is a real pain. I have been driving with the speedo off by 30 percent ever since the car was completed but I knew it was off from the first time that I drove it. With a 15 percent error, I can easily calculate the proper speed to be displayed. I guess my point of this whole thing is that I am annoyed at the vendors that I have used to either buy parts from or have parts repaired/reconditioned.  Because restoring a car takes time, by the time you are done, you have exceeded the part's expressed warranty period and you had never actually got to use the part yet.  Just like my wiper motor. It cost a bundle to buy, worked perfectly when it was bench checked when it was installed, then months later when the car is out for a drive for the first time, the wipers initially worked but when the switch was turned off, they stopped in mid-wipe and failed to park. I bench checked it again at home and the park circuit fails. Same thing with the instrument cluster voltage regulator. Worked fine for 3 weeks then the oil, water and fuel gauges stopped working. It's just annoying because the vendors won't do anything after the warranty period even though the part was really never used until the car was finished and drivable.

Before this gets out of hand everyone needs to know that Kim and her business have done a terrific job in helping me out.  The original wiper problem occurred last year and was resolved with Kim's help.  She was able to get me the correct short 3 speed arm that was missing and a source for the other long arm that was also missing.  Because of her, I was able to get the right parts and get the wipers working.  However, since then another problem arose and she is helping me resolve the problem even though I did not buy the motor from her.  None of the other electrical issues that have occurred over the past year have anything to do with her business and any bad comments that I may have made about vendors and warranties were certainly not about her business. I apologize to Kim and her business as I am sorry if anybody at any time felt that any of my comments may have been directed at them.  They were not but looking back through those posts, they were written with a poor choice of words and I am sorry.

Thank you for the kind words and we'll get the problem with the wiper resolved.  When your show is over this weekend, get the motor to me and we'll get it repaired, tested and working like it should be for your next outing with the car.  Hopefully ALL the issues will be resolved and you'll be happy and have wipers everytime you turn the switch
