Anyone near Fulton Arkansas,Hempstead county?

I have been out of work all year and if I can get my welding certification I have a chance to work at a powerplant under construction in this area.I was wondering what is out there as far as hotels,restaurants, grocery stores, laundromat ,internet service,weather?  I`m not really interested in nightlife or anything like that just the basic necessities. From what I have been able to find on the internet this place is basically in the middle of no-where and is about a 24 hour drive for me to get there so  I`m just trying to get an idea of what to expect,Thanks!

That would be around 30 miles or so from Texarkana,  Lots of city there.

Ok good so there is some sign of life out there.Hopefully I can find a place to stay a bit closer than 30 miles from site. Do you know if there is an airport in Texarcana?Thanks Al!

They have a regional Airport   the number is  501 774 2107  If they are building a nuke plant, then motels would get a lot of contractors. You may even consider a camper. For the most part, small towns will have a motel around, but hard to find since they don't have a brand name.  I work world wide, but try to stay in N. America for the most part.  We hire welders to do a special skill and we get them certified to do the job. They pay for all the motels, food and travel. We have 3 offices in the USA  Iowa, Missouri, and Alabama.  Only thing is that it can be a family killer being gone for a month or 2 at a time. But you can just about live anywhere. Pay is Direct deposit.

To be a welder in a Nuke plant. You have some extreme rules and tests to pass for cert. , Gov standards keeps the inspectors around 24-7 and everything is tested to 100%

Thanks for the intel Al. This isn`t a Nuke plant it`s a coal fired plant, Turk Power plant is the name of the place. There will be a lot of contractors traveling there and from what i`ve been told they only are at around 45% of the total manpower necessary guys keep dropping off like flys. So hopefully I can find a room close by. I just got my A.W.S D1.1 weld cert today so I am good for up to 3/4 inch plate. Traveling isn`t something I normally do but times are tough and you gotta do what you gotta do and having welding ability is a handy tool to have in the toolbox! There is a coal fired plant near me that is putting in a new scrubber system but that project is moving slow and I am hearing talk of less guys needed for the lagging and sheeting end of it so who knows.
There was a call out for manpower through my union a while back at a Nuke plant in Georgia I believe Savannah River? Anyway the whole cert process is extreme like you say. I think I got to burn a few more rods before I could pass their standards. This distance is going to be hard on me and my family I will miss my girls a lot. I`m hoping to get in 2 or 3 months of work come home for a week or two then go back, or if a job opens up at home I will be back here in a second!

So, Karma is kickin my but. I got a call today to go work in Arkansas fri sat sun mon and tues.  Go figure huh?  Im going to be north tho...Jonesboro. Then fly out to ridgecrest ca working 4 weeks on 2 weeks off the rest of the year.
