exhaust manifolds
« on: August 22, 2011 - 09:00:19 PM »
I'm thinking of using manifolds instead of headers on my sons 74 challenger 440 4 speed, Are their some hp manifolds available that would be better for his car, If so could you all give me some info on them and where I can get some. Thanks

The top FAST and PS guys are pushing 800hp through manifolds.  I'm sure they are extrude honed and worked over extensively.  The 70-71's will be better out of the box but any BB manifold should be able to be made to flow well enough for a street/strip car.  The late 70's BB B-body manifolds would be easier to find and  would be cheaper.  I don't know how the exhaust pipe flanges changed over the years though.

They might be pushing 900 hp if they could use a good header...:)
