Good site for 70's Impalas?

Does anyone know of a site as helpful as this one but focused on Impalas?  Apparently my work on the Challenger has inspired my dad to do some work on his one owner 1974 Impala.  Specifically he is looking to swap out the intake and single barrel carb with a quadjet set up...which was an option, so a site with some good engine people would be great.

I got a '67 Impala and am a member over on Chevy Talk (username: rooks). Great place, with a bunch of very friendly & knowledgeable people - much like here. 

It's a big place - for all Chev's, not just Impala's, so it might seem a little daunting at first - but each specific model/generation has its own sub-forum.

  god i'm getting old, lol i remember doing this swap back in '79 on my brothers 67 impala except he wanted to go from a four barrel set up down to a 2 bbl carb.  i had auto shop in high school and did it there.i was 17 at the time and a classmate jumped at this and traded me even up for his 2 bbl 67 impala,guess who got the better end of this deal.  don't know what my bro was thinking

The people over at Chevy talk responded with the casting number of the intake he'd need.  Ebay has one reasonably priced (50 + shipping) but we'll keep an eye out at local shows.  The problem with a lot of the aftermarket intakes is they drop the ERG system (which went in on the 1973) because the pre-70s cars are much more popular.

My dad has been talking about doing it since the late 80s   Somewhere along the way he even picked up an intake with a Rochester 4 barrel on it.  However when he went to look at what all was involved with the swap he noticed the ERG issue and just set it aside.  That intake has been sitting in my garage (along with the Impala) for the last 6 years. But now that we are going to shows/swap meets and looking for my parts, he's inspired.

Sorry, when my Jeep got trashed I borrowed my dad's daily driver and he took the Impala for a few weeks to "blow out the carbon".  It has since returned to the garage so I snapped a few pictures.  I didn't pull it out, but it's a one owner, original car, mostly highway miles (he bought it to take us on trips in).  He's added a few minor things (an extra radio in the back, a passenger side mirror, some aftermarket gauges and clock.  The paint is still original and sharp with a few dings here and there.

Yeah it's really built for highway cruising, smooth at 70, tons of power, great brakes and steering.  He used to throw the family in it every year and drive us from Cleveland to Florida every Thanksgiving.

fanatic: he probably wanted the 2 barrel for better gas mileage. Late 70's we had another gas crisis IIRC

Actually the 4 barrel "quadrajet" that they use has barrels of 2 different sizes.  The small ones open first and the bigger ones kick in when you stand on it so it's not too bad for gas usage.

He probably took the 2 barrel because that's what they had on the lot and because they were offering great deals because of the gas crisis   Dealers were pretty eager to unload the full size guzzlers like Impalas
