Looks like Grandpa had an alternator to keep the battery charged also.
I personally don't like too big a wheel with rubber bands for tires on our muscle era cars especially when the brakes don't fill the space, that is what the ricers do. It is a matter for personal preference in the end though.   :2cents:

Ya I have 22" on our family Suburban. They were on it when we bought it. I hate them! I feel like I should be on MTV in a rap video driving the stupid thing! The wife and kids like them though? The ride is horrible! The worst it the "tracking" in the ruts in the pavement. I'm trying to find someone to swap them for the stock rims. They just plain SUCK!

well they cannot go much past 26" , if the overall tire height is 26" & then snap a rubber band over it that is as far as you can go !!

I love the look of large rims.  22" is about the max for me though.  22's look great on SUV's...I've got 20's on my Durango.  Last weekend at the Nat's there was a new black Challenger with 22's and it looked great.  Normally I'd say that 20's are the max on a Challenger but this one had custom backspacings and accually fit the car.  All other Challengers that I've seen that have had 22's have looked awful.

I will say that even though I would never build a DONK myself, I still like the look better then 15" Keystones or Cragers on a muscle car.  Those wheels don't look good on anything. :puke:

Once the Challenger is done, I'm hoping to talk my friend into starting on his 86 Cutlass.  We're thinking 18's will be the perfect size for that car.  Here are some videos on Youtube of over the top wheel sizes...30" and 50"

Brad, it'd be a shame if those fine hoops got stolen one dark night. I'm leaning towards putting 17's on my Challenger whenever it gets done. Hopefully they'll still make tires by then.......

Personally, I can't stand anything much over 16" wheels. Musclecars lose their Heritage when they become "Pimped out" rides IMO...

Leave the big ass wheels to the "pimps"....
