Goodmark RT hood comments after 2000 miles definitely NOT for speed runs

Bought a Goodmark R/T hood for the Challenger.  Overall fit and finish was acceptable, though the metal is softer than OEM (dont close it pushing down from above, pull the leading edge lip from below), the hood is about 1/4 inch wider than stock (correct length leading edge trim is too "short"), and the rear inside ribbing sits higher than stock so the 3 rear rubber bumpers don't contact the underside as OEM.

The main issue I want to point out is the hood/1970 grille traps alot of air the faster you go.  I had to keep tightening the center hood latch, pulling the hood down against the front two corner rubber bumpers.  The inside hood release is about as tight as I will accept without risking breaking the plastic handle/cable.  With the current "tight" setup the hood still LIFTS noticably off the two front rubber corner stops at speeds above 80 mph.  At 100 mph I'll estimate the leading edge of the hood is above the fenders by a good 1/4 inch, and the entire hood leading edge is 'dancing' in the wind.  You can easily see it from the drivers seat.
My suggesting is anyone running these cars/hoods at speed should use the OEM hood hold down pins.  I was curious what the top speed of the car was but with this hood and no hood pins I'm not going to risk anything near/over 100 mph.  Around here the diesel pickups pulling loaded horse trailers will still be passing you.

That was why I installed hood pins on my orignal 70.......I was driving to/from school in Nashville, Tenn to Va on I40 when the speed limit was 75......and most of the time ran 85 to 90.  I saw the orig hood dancing.........................

My 340 Duster never had this problem.  This helps explain why Nascar went to the flush grille for the Charger 500.

I made a correction to my first post.  The goodmark hood is about 1/4 inch wider than stock (1/8 each side).

Good information on the Goodmark hood.   My OEM hoods also danced around without hood pins.   Kinda scary looking at 100 mph.

My factory stock 72 ralley 340 cars hood also danced till I added pins it was common ahh the good old days of going 120 plus on Bias plys

Yes, I have both and they are OEM...soft and seal up against the hood properly.  I had bought an aftermarket cowl seal, but the lip did not stand up nearly as high as my worn out/deformed OEM, so I found a real nice used one and am happy with it both fit and function.  The front hood to radiator support seal I have is a nice used OEM, and seals real well also.
