The wheel is gloss black. I think this is one instance where the black paint the factory used was higher quality. My guess is that they would have used the same paint on the wheels as they did the body. If anyone knows different please correct me.
Usually, the black painted parts didn't shine a lot due to the very low quality paint that was used. My original black spare is still pretty shiny. That's why I assume they used the same paint as the body.
Today's base/clear paint jobs will look a lot more glossy then an old single stage paint though. If you are going to go the base/clear route, then I think I would flatten it slightly. It should definately be more shiny then semi-gloss though.
