Haywire Wiring?
« on: September 07, 2011 - 08:59:57 PM »
1973 barracuda, got it a couple of weeks ago, and all the electrical was working fine. Then one day:
Flicking right turn signal makes signal spazz out, CD player (I don't think that is stock ;-}) turn off, and the dome light turns on.
Left switch spazzes a bit too, but not so bad. And it doesn't affect any other part of the wiring...
Any suggestions?  My mechanic buddy suggested it may be the floor dimmer switch... The signal stem seems to 'click" into place well...

And by the way, what is it with the thrill I get from using that floor mounted dimmer? Does anyone else get off on that? Some kind of latent foot based control issues, I guess...

Would that be haywiring ??
anyway I would start with cleaning the bulkhead & column connectors & put some di - electric grease to keep the corrosion from happening again. next check grounds , if they are poor it can cause the electrical current to take a different path

   Is the bulkhead the firewall?

Yes. The harness' on one side, the fuse box on the other.
