Large tires in a vert cuda...
« on: September 27, 2011 - 04:59:58 PM »
I am trying to find out what the largest width tires I can stuff under a 70 cuda convertible. It looks as though people generally get away with 10" wide rears with 5" backspacing.
How does that usually work out on cars that have not been tubbed or had there wheel openings rolled? I know I'll need to relocate the springs, that's reversible but I'd rather not
tub the car due to the unique "caps" put onto the cuda vert wheel housings to clear the convertible mechanism. Does any one have an example of a cuda convertible with tires
that wide underneath? I'd like to be able to take a corner and not rub but have some real meat on the rims.

:swear:There is no short easy  answer

Ride height tire diameter suspension travel are all unknowns that make a difference.

I'm currently running 295/45/18  in my challenger vert.

TDB, thanks for your example. I do understand all of those things are factors so I guess what I am looking for are the combinations or at least ideas for combinations that would result in something like yours. The right answer for now is probably not to worry about it until I get close to that point. I don't intend on modding the wheel wells so when I get that close I'll start mocking things up.

By the way, your ID reminds me of a group of guys from MN.
