Maybe you can track the plate # down , 398-OL8 , Maryland maybe ?

That indeed is a Maryland plate. The Historic plates always have an "L" in them.

wow!!! thank you guys so much!!! you don't know how much I appreciate your help and words. It very well could be a Maryland plate because the last I knew of what happened to the car it was sold at the Borgota Casino in Atlantic City to a man from Maryland! Daytona I have to thank you so much for the pics!!!! I got in touch with Phil's best friend Matt and told him about his. You are not going to believe this when Phil's uncle and cousin sold everything Phil had a Daytona/Shelby which was another show car. When I saw your screen name DAYTONA here with news of his Challenger I could have fallen off my chair!!! Phil's friend Matt kept tabs on the Daytona for years, the guy who bought the car from Phil's uncle could NEVER get the car started, NEVER!!! the car sat for years untouched, no matter what the guy did the car WOULD NOT START! Phil had so much money rapped up in the custom work he did on the engine to that car, he had the turbo on full boost when he had the car and had it rigged so it would not detonate. Phil was a brain at everything he did and he did it with perfection, his cars, truck and boats were show vehicles, that was what he invested his life in...well back to the Daytona! the guy finally gave up trying to get Phil's Daytona running and Matt called him and made another offer on the car, the guy gave in and sold it to Matt...so now Matt has Phil's Dodge Daytona, he had it flatbedded to his garage, he gets in the car and BAM the car fires up!!!! He is driving that car today!!! the only problem he had was turning down the boost, he did not know what Phil did...lol!!! so Daytona when I saw your name with info on Phil's Challenger I could not believe it!!! and neither could Matt...I will post some pics of Phil's Daytona and Dodge Ram truck, you won't believe his custom work....

...wish I could have helped more

...no doubt a car this unusual will surface again, someone out there knows where it is...I came so close to purchasing the Challenger at the time, but backed off at the last moment...after seeing the car in person at the MOPAR Nats, I wished I had purchased it, it screams "vintage custom"

...I've owned a couple of '69 Dodge Daytonas for almost 30 years

...the pix number is quite a coincidence, I sometimes wonder what is "out there" that we, as a living being, don't know or understand...I will keep my eyes open for the car in the future

...Phil must have been a very interesting guy, wish I had known him

...future contact if you wish to check in from time to time,   VIPER@nerdsonthego.com

Hi Daytona, I just love your screen name! thank you for all your help! if this is all there is that is fine, I am content knowing his car is being taken care of and by the looks of it, I can see that it is! I have to tell you this, when the car was sold, I came home one day to find a message on my answering machine by a man named Ari. he asked if I was Sue, Phil's fiance and asked for me to give him a call back. When I did he told me everything that went down with the sale of Phil's car to him by his uncle. The man called Phil's uncle a few choice words and told me that he would have sued Phil's uncle for not completing the deal that was made but he didn't because of the condition of Phil's dad. He told me that his uncle promised him the tags and title with the sale but his uncle never came through, he didn't even have the vin number...I looked up to the sky and said thanks Phil, now I understand WHY you did what you did. At the time I did not have the info. on the car...but what I did have was the restoration pictures. The money that Phil had in his car was incredible! anyone that bought it would have gotten every penny of their moneys worth. When Phil did something for him, he used only the best and only bought parts from the best places all over the world. Each nut and bolt on that car is solid brass. The paint work is done in candy and pearls and the gold is all 18 karat gold leaf, it took him 1 year to paint that car. Phil never spared a penny he only bought the best! Ari finally gave up trying to get some paperwork on the car and decided to sell it at the Potter car show in the Borgota. At the time I did not have the title to the car and the tags were hidden. Well sometime after the sale of the car at the Borgota something very incredible happened. As I said before I don't know how many of you believe but what came next was incredible!!! and that is how I ended up with the title for the car...Daytona, believe because it is so REAL! and might I also add this in, when Matt purchased the car and went to motor vehicle to  register and inspect the Daytona, the registration number came back 1010 and the inspection was stamped 11 (the month of Phil's birth) after over 2 years of Matt giving offers to this guy to buy Phil's car, it came right the right moment!!! Thank you again for all your help!!!!

I really liked it. I love the old school day two look. It's a time Capsule.
