Here's my dilema... I want the upgraded spark of the chrome Mopar ignition box, but I also want it to look factory correct.

I had originally planned on simply painting the chrome box black, but there are so many detail differences that it would never pass for stock.

So... I'm wondering how hard it would be to take chrome and NOS boxes, gut them and swap the chrome's internals into the NOS body...?

Since they are potted with urethane, I'd say next to impossible without damaging something. Unless your in concourse judging, are the differences that noticeable?

Yeah. The main difference is the large heatsink, or whatever it is. Original is gold. Chrome box's is black.

Maybe I'll just buy a NOS one and bolt it on for shows. :-)

Mount your chrome box under the battery tray and run off of that.  Mount a stock looking box to the firewall and run a dummy harness to it.
