Trans AM
« on: January 03, 2012 - 05:35:07 PM »
OK I know its not a Mopar but I am looking for a 71 trans Am :naughty:
I am looking for decent car to redo and drive and not looking for a million dollar car for an off the wall resto.
I am open to rollers of the 70 1/2 to 73 range and prefer to find one near complete,I want a 4spd but since this will be one my wife can drive an auto is prefered.Anyone that saw the 455 HO thread on Moparts? It sparked some serious interest here and I was amazed at how many car pics showed up in the thread.I know that some of you guys must know where some of these cars are sitting?Heres a pic of the car I want and yes I did contact the owner and would love to buy this car but he is unsure right now if he wants to sell it,so I want to see what others might be available?
I might do a trade deal with my 68 Dart GTS 340 if interested?
Thanks Doug

Funny Doug that thread got me thinking about them as well. I used love them about 15-20 years go and sort of forgot how much I like the looks of them. I got enough problems now though so good luck in your search and I'll keep my eyes open out this way for you.

I have a 70 1/2 firebird.  Not an esprit or formula or trans am.  Just a firebird.

I would sell it.  Roller of course. Engine is broken.

Has build sheet, protecto plate, window stickers, more paperwork and whatnot.

Originally from Lamar, Colorado. I purchased it out of Lamar, Co.

Anyway, probably not what your after, but if your interested just pm me your email again.  I'll send pics.

Good luck finding a T/A.   :2thumbs: They are relatively difficult to find for sale.

I saw him at the spring Compounce meet.

Really cool guy.  I need to swing down there one day and say hi...

You won't miss it as its near the top in the e-bay/craigslist section in the classifieds.
I really want something a little bit closer as I want to check the car out in person but I do appreciate the offer.

I really like those Trans Ams.  I scout around on craigslist around Boston so if I see anything I'll let you know.  Since having the Challenger, I'm only allowed one toy in the driveway but I like to look, sometimes I figure if I start buying parts the wife will let me eventually get a car to go with the parts.  :naughty:

On Cl a few months ago was an original Formula hood for those years with a factory tach, guy dropped the price from $400 to $150.  Sooooo tempting to just get the hood as they don't repro those.

There's a guy that sells stuff on craigslist.  Bumped into him as I picked up some old model cars from him.  His store is at 300 North Montello Street in Brockton, MA, I think that's the address.  He sells cars mags and porn, interesting mix.  Felt all dirty after leaving his store.  :roflsmiley:

Anyhow, got to talking to him about in the 80's in front of the Westgate mall there used to be street racing and there was a Nova with a 454 that was rumored to be the fastest car around.  This guy said he raced it.  I said in what?  He said a 455-Super Duty Trans Am and he still had it along with several other cars....not sure what year it was though, if it was a '73 or '74.

This was a few years back, he might still have it...  :dunno:

I'm feeling bad now... I've bought a few of those just to get the T-10 and scrapped the rest. Can't count how many of the 76-81 camaro's/ firebirds I've scrapped just to get the front clip/frame for stock cars. :-[
