Jammed lower rod adjuster... Floor shift.
« on: October 18, 2012 - 09:23:01 AM »
Anybody have a good idea how to un-jam the sliding adjusting block on the lower rod automatic (console) linkage.  Mine won't slide up and down the rod after pulling loose the locking bolt. Mine is stuck good!  The "adjustable swivel"...

Remove the cotter pins from the trans shift arm and from the pivot that comes down through the floor.  You'll  be able to remove that entire ajustment arm from the car.  Then it's just a matter of soaking the connection with some penitrating oil.

I would heat it with a propane torch & use penetrant , apparently a mix of acetone & Auto trans fluid will work better than any penetrating oil

Thanks for the advice.  I did have it out of the car, but I didn't want to brutilize it anymore with a hammer and damage it...    Amazing the grip this thing has on the rod because it won't budge...
