what brand windshield?
« on: November 02, 2011 - 01:05:19 PM »
there are 2 shops around here who stock e-body windshields. One carries Pilkington and the other AMD...  I heard about glass being thin and not fitting right, whats the way to go?  prices are equal.   thanks

I bought / installed an AMD windshield in my 74 Barracuda. Fit perfect, John.

I had Safelite Auto Glass order and install the windshield; with parts and labor covered under warranty.  Don't know what brand the glass is, but everything is fine.

I went with AMD.  I measured all six pieces and compared with the original equipment glass and it was exactly the same.  I installed it myself and am very pleased with it.  PK

thanks for the replies guys    I think I`ll get the AMD.  The tinted pilkington glass comes with the blue band(?) on the top side.
As far as I know that is not the case with the amd.  I like it better without

thanks again

Hey Bart, when you get the glass, make sure you double check where the window molding goes around the windshield that it sits flush on the glass, i have seen glass that is too thin fitted and even glass that is correct thickness not fit correctly, it may have something to do with the bead of sealant that hold the glass in also, when they fit your glass (if you get a shop) take in consideration the window trim buddy :2thumbs:

The AMD windshield I bought is clear with no shade across the top. I wanted a clear glass. I used the 3/8 3M ribbon and my trim fits tight to the glass.
