« on: January 16, 2005 - 01:15:50 PM »
how does anyone feel about the alleged chinese/tawain connection that is supposed to be in developement to procure the rights from daimler chrysler to build unit bodies from 1970-1972 for the plymouth cuda/barracude I personally believe in the old chrysler wartime engineering philosophy of built and designed by chrysler tested in mainland japan (hiroshima nagasaki) :bs:

Maybe this will give some other people the chance to own an E-body without having to fork out some rediculous amount of money.

Well, bodies for 69 Camaro is being reproduced.  To get around the issue with calling it a car, they are shipped without front bolt on metal and rear quarters.  I saw that on Speedvision when they covered the SEMA show.  At least you can get a pretty solid shell if you have a Camaro.

I think that this is a good thing. There are several makes and models that are in the works. these cars will be a great start for custom clones (as opposed to modifying original cars). It's hard to say what this will do the value of "real" cars, but I don't think it will drive down prices of the original stuff. We all know about the Cobra kit cars and glass body hot-rods.  The quality of the cars are yet to be seen, but I honestly can't see it being any worse than what I've seen with my '72 'cuda. If a solid body was priced at $10K or less and was relatively complete, I would have definately jumped on that.

Heck, my car is a real 'cuda, but I've replaced most of the sheet metal. Is it still a real 'cuda?

Hot Rod magazine had an article on the company doing the Camaro. They had been reproducing all but a few of the pieces necessary for a complete body for sometime. They are near release of a 67 Mustang and have a cuda on the drawing boards.

If I remeber the facts correctly all the peices are made in the USA as is the assembly. The article also went on to say the precision of the assembly work will be as good as or better than today's standards which will be a huge improvement over 70 standards.

From what I read the certificate of origin will not be a Camaro, Mustang or Barracuda just like the Cobra kits. So your title and registration will be what ever the call them.

I'm fully against the idea. If there's going to be a Cuda DC should come up with the design, a new car made in the US.  8)
