Ya it's just like HP2 described. Keep in mind it's a big block too. I might get ambitious this winter and make something like the XV kit. It might cost like $10 in material? :grinyes:  Also looking at the MC type bars, but with the 6 pack style air cleaner it gets tight .
I've got big plans drivetrian wise this winter so don't know if I'll get to it or not? Definatly before I get it painted someday.
Sure not hard to spend money on these old buggies huh!

I was thinking of boxing the inner fender to firewall brace that is already in the car, and then making a lower rad brace.
I have already installed hotchkis sub frame connectors and torque boxes.
Anythoughts on the boxing Idea ?

I am planning on doing the same thing. I think it will only help.  :2cents:

I like how Aaron Beck tacked that area.

I like what Aaron did (replacing the braces with heavier material) as well. The stock brace is not very substantial, I cut mine with tin snips when I did the XV braces.

I just have the torque boxes and sub frame conectors on mine and when I place the jack on the t-bar cross member the whole side of the car lifts up too. ( front and rear) . Wanna see something scary.... jack up the car and put it on 4 jack stands and watch how much the front end sags till the jack is free of the car!( when jack is on the k-frame)  That's what I'd like to improve on mine?
The front end moves 1 1/2" to 2" easy before the front jack stands can move. All that "flexing" can't be good :eek4: I can't imagine how much a vert would flex? :scared:

Mine too, freaks me out, I am worried the old heap will break in half on the starting line. I will be welding in  xv's braces this winter

Not that I know what I am doing generally speaking, but you should take a look at what this guy is doing for a car he is building. It's impressive.

I agree with CP on the firewall to shock tower brace, since the weight loads the torsion bar crossmember, not the shock tower like a mustang.

This is not true.  The torsion bars do not apply any force to the torsion bar crossmember.  The weight of the car is carried through the front frame which is effectively catilevered back to the crossmember/firewall.  The torsion bars only apply torque (hence the name) to the crossmember and allow compliance for suspension.  I agree, the only force applied to the shock tower comes from the shocks, but the front frame (ie the lower control arm mounting point) still picks up the full weight of the car.
mmmmm.... Mopar.... *drool*
