4 Speed Floor Hump

I am getting ready to cut the floor for installation of the floor hump.   My car has original floor pans and is a 71 barracuda.  The hump is an original piece, not sure of year that I got it out of 25 years ago.

Any event, there is a gap between the hump and the floor.  Same as in the pictures below I stole from Noob's resto thread.

What is up with this gap and how to close?  Is the repo hump  for a specific year floor?  My floor and hump look just like these.

Just take a 2x4 and a hammer and pound it flat to the floor, or use a hammer and dolly.

Yea i get the bfh technique and will head down that path.  I had heard there was a '70 floor pan style, and then a 71-74 floor pan.  My 71 does not have the rib that his 73 does to match the hump.

My '72 Challenger had the bump in the floor yours seems to be missing.  My tunnel was from AMD.

Challenger III - I actually printed out your picks to guide me, thank you for posting.  In your pric's, it looks like you offset your floor cut by about 3/4 inch relative to your perimeter tracing based on scaling the photo.

The original hump I have (not sure what year or frankly if cuda or challenger, been 25 years since I liberated it with a cold chisel and hamer) seems to indicate about 1/2 inch offset along the centerline of the transmission while the other edges are about 3/4 inch.  This based on the pattern of rust and overspray of undercoat.

This sounds about right. I will trim excess around the opening when my car is on the rotisserie. I'm actually not positively sure how the factory did it, I am going to go by what will look the best appearance - wise. I'm happy I could assist to the degree I could. :cheers:
