'74 Cuda Mirror Glass
« on: May 15, 2011 - 09:47:52 PM »
When the mirrors came back from painting (18 years ago), the side view mirror glass was cracked.  It wasn't the shop's fault, and the bottom line is that we need the glass, not the whole mirror.  The mirror's paint is fine.  Where can I get the glass and how easy is it to put together with the new mirror?  Can we/should we get custom cut glass and from where?  Thanks for the help!

I show the mirror off in my resto thread, Page 10. Use a heat gun to soften the urethane holding it on. I heard glass companies can cut you one for about $10 or you can cheat and get a plastic "cut with scissors" type at AutoZone.

(sorry, it's been a while- haven't had a chance to get on the forum)

My dad doesn't want to cheap out and get the plastic stuff, but i say get what works for your wallet.

As far as finding a place that does custom work, I asked around and nobody in this damn town seems to care, and we got shops and dealerships for miles B/

alright, I'll remember that!  You guys are a big help.  the problem I have really, is "what defines a 'glass company'?  because around here, we're surrounded by dealerships and shops, but nobody does custom glass cutting.  it's annoying as hell
