So what about the valvoline vr1 synthetic? What Are the benifits vs regular vr1 10w-30? They both say that it's good for flat tappets, also the synthetic has 1400 zddp rating

How do you drive your car? Just on the street, or does it see track time? For myself, I only put 1000 or so miles on mine a year, but I use synthetic because I'm anal.   :lol: There is nothing wrong with the conventional oil as long as it has zinc. I think if you are really going to be more into racing, the synthetic might be a better choice.

No track time yet, I drive it as I fix it. I don't see why the synthetic wouldn't be good for normal driving, it's supposed to be compatable with all seals and rings. The zinc should make it perfect with a flat tappet too

Synthetics tend to create a more "slippery" surface, so to speak. They typically will increase power and mileage while decreasing wear and reducing operating temperatures. Since the base stock is a man made commodity, they can build molecule chains to better perform to specific attributes compared to dino oil.
