Glove box lock?
« on: November 24, 2011 - 10:19:22 AM »
Hi everyone, i just bought a 70 gc cuda and i have a few issues to iron out with the car. First one id like some help with is the glove box lock. Sometimes it falls apart and i have to put it back together. The front part will come apart from the rear, is there anything i can do about this or do i need another. I have been looking around a little but so far no luck. Are all the locks the same on the 70-74 locks or are they different? Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thx Gus

Maybe it was taken apart and not put back together correctly?  This thread details the removal process (particularly the last post).  Maybe it will illuminate the issue:

When you say "the front part will come apart from the rear", do you mean that the chrome knob separates (as in my pic), or the the tumbler ass'y comes out of the housing? In my case, I just crazy glued the chrome knob back on.

Hey Jay, no mine isnt like yours, yes the tumbler assy is coming apart from the housing. Tried messing with it a little yesterday and found out that my key will not lock it either. So who knows?
