little help please on spring hangers/springs
« on: December 16, 2011 - 12:36:23 PM »
So getting ready to order the offset hangers/shackles from dr diff, trying to decide if I should order the one for standard springs or SS. I have a chance to pick up a set of SS locally, but was considering swapping out the top leaf on the SS to accept standard hangers just in case I didn’t like the SS later down the road….so the plan was SS springs and a snubber...what’s your guys’ thinkin?

the SS springs are basically a better deal , they have the stiffer front leaf ofr better traction & do not sag like the HP springs do , that is probably the better route for you

In my limited experience I did not care for the longer front hangar, it's not gusseted for support and will fold if the car hits a curb sideways on a spin out. It seems vibration prone. The stock one folded for me when I first got the car in 73'. Get these leafs if you are not trying to squeeze slicks on. Equal bite on turns and stiff enough to equalize the torque roll on acceleration if you have rear sway bars.
(Sway bar links angle in if you "offset" a narrower housing and links may need to be longer for the bar to clear exhaust, or to imitate instant center theory by angling the side lever of the bar so, if it were longer it would intersect the imaginary line from the axles to front leaf eye, at the middle of the car. If viewing from the car's side.)

and Dr. Diffs hangar kits, they are thicker of stronger steel.
