Door Latch and Bolts Color

Can anyone tell me if the door latch and latch bolts in the side of the door were installed before or after paint? Almost looks like their is original paint under the bolt heads but it is hard to tell, were the bolts just left steel color?

Door latches and philips head screws are silver zinc plated and were installed after paint.

Thanks that is what it kind of looked like, was just hard to tell after 40 years of abuse
