I am told a lot when asking someone about how their headlights are working and usually told that they work just works fine. The truth is, they may function, but did you ever see the yellowish look in the headlight bulbs when lit and pulling out of a car show at night? There are many reasons why this condition occurs, but here is one of the biggest reasons why. The internal circuit breaker contacts have oxidized over time and created resistance. The ohm resistance of –4 to –8 or more can knock down the current to the headlights from 12 vdc to 10 vdc or less.

That plus the firewall connections and factory crappy grounds all lead to voltage drops. Which is why I have relays on mine, well and white HIDs.  :biggrin: :thumbsup:

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. That is the circuit board for the headlight switch.





Also, congratulations on the COTM!  :clapping:  Hope to meet you at the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise this year. First night is May 28th.

Hey Guys .... just a thought.  Isn't there a digital or electronic version of these that would eliminate the same problem?   Perhaps on a newer Dodge or Plymouth (80's or 90's).   

Has anyone found a suitable replacement??

No need now we have Slotts on the job, have you seen the quality of work he does :2thumbs: and i bet with the better tachnology in electrical lubricants around now, that these switches will last longer than they did from new :jumping:

Terrific ..... he certainly seems to know the inner workings of these cars.   I guess I will wait for post on whatever he comes up with??

 :bigsmile: Your best bet would be to get him to fix what ever switches you have that need fixing, i can not recommend him highly enough :2thumbs: I live in Australia and i have a whole swag of friends who i talk too and we send our switches directly to him from here, never a problem. :2thumbs: Thanks again for a quality service Slotts :wave:

I just use the stock switch to trigger relays for mine.

Hey ... just took mine apart .... pretty oxidized.   Can you use regular contact spray on these once they are cleaned up?

There are special methods for cleaning different types of metals, that is why i send my stuff to Jim, he knows what is needed and tests every item before they leave his door. Another thing i found interesting, if you do not know what you are doing when cleaning, you can heat damage parts and wear them out if using abrasives........ food for thought :popcorn:
