GE7 - Burgundy Metallic -- Anyone have this color on their car?
« on: January 08, 2005 - 09:50:17 PM »
My 74 Cuda fender tag shows the original color as GE7 - Burgundy Metallic.

Do any of you own a Mopar with that original color still on it?

If so, post a pic or two, as I'm thinkin of returning my car to the original color, and wanted to get an idea of what it would look like.
Thanks!

My '74 is an original GE7 car too. Seems to be the most common color for 'CUDAs of that year.
Kind of like EV2 (tor red) seems to be the most common in '72. I don't know if it is the most
common color, it just seems like it :-\

Anyway, the white car in my avatar used to be GE7 and I would see it at the track and at the local street
races kicking a$$ and taking names with a HEMI and a four speed and I always referred to it as that
d@wm brown 'CUDA because it looked brown to me with white stripes :eeksmall:

Years later I found the car nearly dead out in front of someones house and I bought it for $250.00
(minus the HEMI/833 setup of course) dragged it home and washed it and low and behold, the car
was burgandy with white stripes.

My point is , the color looks brown when not in perfect lighting conditions and I think the color you have
now looks better 8)

The code on my origanal cuda was E7, don't know about the G, my avatar is that car, the code listed out as Burnished Red Metallic a 74 only (for cuda's anyway) color let me see if I have a bigger picture, never looked brown to me, but the way the light hits it does change the color a bit!
sorry bout the quality but the photos are round 30 yrs old, 1st 3 are the 74
oh yea the 73 i have now was brown. last pic here. Rich.

One entry found for burnish.

Main Entry: 1bur·nish
Pronunciation: 'b&r-nish
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English burnischen, from Middle French bruniss-, stem of brunir, literally, to make brown, from brun

I'm with ya rusty and I'm sure on the showroom floor the cars looked pretty cool but maybe they
would have sold more E-bodies in '74 if they painted them torred, lemon twist and true blue instead
of dark green, tan and brown.

Personally, I think mopar was done building E-bods in '73 and they just took left over parts from the
program to put the last couple of thousand cars together to get them out the door :nono:

By 1974 it was all about building Dusters and getting the Cordoba ready ::)

Funny, the more I look at the old pics, even with the new ppg paint(as opposed to omni) the color they mixed for me still seems a bit more reddish than the old, which I would probably call maroon, if you wanted to keep it simple!
Gonna go back & stick a pic of the new color in there & see em all together!(guess I'm just that bored!) snowing like crazy here!  :( Rich.
