Gaskets recommendation
« on: January 03, 2012 - 04:14:29 PM »
Hey I've got oil leaking on the top of my valley pan so I figure its a good time to swap the team g for a rpm intake on my 440, as well as replace all the gaskets, hopefully stopping the leak.  My valley pan is really old so I ordered the fel-pro 1215 one off summit's website.  It comes with 4 gaskets I assume for both sides, one for the head and one for the intake.  Should I use all four of these?? It seems like a little much to me but I'm not so sure.  Ill use a copper sealant regardless I think.  I also have a brand new set of two edelbrock performance gaskets I can use instead.

What should I do? What have you guys had the most luck with?

I just used the 2 to the intake plus the valley pan.If you used all 4 plus the valley pan your bolts might not line up.

I didn't use anything but the valley pan with gaskasinch on both sides. IF both the heads and intake are honed correctly, you are in good shape.

I use 2 paper gaskets below the valley pan against the heads to prevent oil leaks

I got 3 responses and theyre all different  :screwy: lol
Well to each their own! I guess I'll just do whatever looks right at the time, it would make sense chryco to put 2 underneath the pan because that's where the oil is probably coming from now with the leak I have. I'm just hoping my kick down will be compatable between the team g and the rpm. If not I'll be back on the Internet looking to spend more money on parts  :bricks1:

the pan can go in with no gaskets , most pans do not include the extra gaskets & often the intake is too hard to fit with any gaskets in place , but typically if I use them I just use two below the pan .
