leafspring relocation installation question
« on: January 05, 2012 - 07:29:51 PM »
I have bought the relocation kit from mf.  When these are installed, should they run straight with the frame rail or straight with the stock mounting perch?  Will it matter if the springs don't sit straight with the car, because they will end up being closer together in the front and wider towards the rear of the car, since the frame archs out towards the rear of the car?

:clueless:  I suppose you got front and rear hangers?   the angle of the springs won`t change that way.  You will have to cut off the spring perches and weld them to the rear the same amount inwards as your relocation kit goes.  If you use a 1"relo kit ,you could also use a B-body rear.

the springs were not straight from the factory  so if both ends were moved in an equal amount the springs will still be narrower at the front

Depends on which kit you have. If the 1" inboard kit with new hangers and shackles, the spring will be angled like stock. If it is the 3" inboard kit that grafts in to the frame rail, then all the locations are altered to a point that the leafs will be straight.
