T/A rear spoiler install
« on: December 17, 2011 - 08:26:08 PM »
I have a new T/A spoiler and am about to mount it, does anyone have a pic with measurements as to where it is mounted.  I looked around and it seems all the old pics are gone.  Also does it get mounted with 3 brackets/clips or 4, the spoiler came with 3 but I am guessing it should have 4.

Thanks

Be sure not to flush mount it with the chrome trim. It needs to be forward on the trunk lid so that you see paint.  Let us know if you need the exact measurement.

The car is a challenger, I will need to cut the holes on the inside but I should be able to figure that out once I have the holes threw the top.  The measurement from the edge of the trunk to the spoiler is what I am not sure of, you see some right beside the trim and others show paint as mentioned.  A measurement from the drop of the lid to the spoiler would be great when you get a chance
Thanks

The factory T/A spolier has a concaved base.  So, when you look straight down, the gap shows about a 1/4" of paint, but when you kneel down and look at the base as it actually touches the trunk lid, the gap shows about a 1/2" of paint.  Does that make sence?

ps: you will need to trim out the underside of the spoiler at the mid point if your trunk lid is not flat.  Didn't they supply mounting instructions?

I lost it in my computer crash but Barry Washington sent me a drawing with the measurements. Maybe e-mail him?

I have seen too many T/As where the spoiler is mounted way too forward.  I like it when you don't see a whole lotta paint between it and the rear trim.

This is a good one:

If you're concerned about the accuracy of the underside holes you can get templates for that. I bought the ones for a Cuda decklid, the were about $30.00 per set. I'm sure First Place also has the Challenger ones.

Got it mounted thanks for the input, I left 1 1/4" gap from the trim.
