powder coating exhaust manifolds
« on: March 01, 2012 - 08:44:09 PM »
I don't usually ask the same question on multiple sites but I'd really like some advise on this...

I just dropped off the exhaust manifolds at the powdercoaters to be blasted.  He mensioned the high temp powders so I thought I'd look into it.  The manifolds were on the engine when it was painted so they should be blue.  I just thought that once most of the blue paint burned off, it would be nice to have a little protection there.

I've tried POR manifold paint and it burned right off.  Ceramic coating is probably a good idea but I think it's expensive.  Has anyone had experience with the high heat powdercoatings?  Do you have any pictures of the manifold gray that Eastwood sells?  I wasn't able to find a picture of it on Eastwoods website.  Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.   Caswell sells powders too.  Any experience with those?

I had the headers and exhaust on my Ducati ceramic coated about 10 years ago.  Still looks great.  Ceramic coating comes in tons of different colors, just need to see what's available.
