What vintiques rims can I go with for my 72 cuda?
« on: December 29, 2011 - 11:11:08 PM »
I'm looking for a new set of rear rims for my cuda. I updated the engine to a sb stroker, shift on the 727, and a sure grip 3.73 rear. The 14's on it, spin at every light. I want to upgrade to 15's and get the widest tires without reallocating springs or offset shackles. Thanks for your help.

You want wide without relocating leaf spring perches and shackles?

Then all I could suggest is air shocks or 20" plus rims.
Not as ideal as re-located springs.   :2cents:

I'm running Vintique Rallyes & BFG TA's, 245/60/15s on 15x7 rims on front, 275/60/15s on 15x8 rims on back.  No clearance issues on mine, but my car may be running heavier springs in back installed by the original owner.  But based on many comments in the sticky Ebody Tire Combos post at the top of this section this is a fairly common tire/rim size on these cars.  Anything larger than 275's and you'll probably have to go the offset spring route.  Read through the Tire Combos post and I think you'll get a good feel for what fits and what doesn't.

Running 275/60 R15 on 15 x 8 rallye's on the rear and 235/60 r15 on 15 x 7 on the front of a 73 cuda. Has the heavy duty rear springs from mopar performance and the rear wheels have a 4 1/2" offset. No clearance issues whatsoever. I also have a set of 275/60 R15 ET Street slicks on 15 x 8 steelie's that also have no clearance issues. This rear size seems to be the biggest without interference.

If you want to keep the stock setup. A 60 series tire is as wide as you can go.   :2cents:

I'm trying to pack the widest rim and tires in the back without offset shackles or spring relocation.

Nice, that is exactly what I'm looking for. How much are those slicks per tire?

I had 295/50/15 with a 8.5" wheel. Had about 1/2" to 3/4" spring clearance no other issues stock suspension..

Then went to a 275/60/15 on 8" much taller tire..

210 a tire. You can get them at jegs and others for about that price.

Sweet! I took the new stroker out for a cruise and went sideways when it got on it! My buddy riding with me almost craped himself.
