You could easily fit 10" rims with the relocation kit.

Here's my set-up

Rims are American Racing Torq-Thrust
ARE-105MS7865B
ARE-105MS8965B

Dr Diff 1" relocation kit gives me about 0.75-1" clearance from tire to leaf spring and rim to quarter panel on each side.

17x8 (4.5" BS) up frt - 17/225/50 (25.9") $95 each
18x9 (6" BS) in rear - 18/275/40 (26.7") $115 each

I looked at the 285's for the rear but it was almost $100 more per tire. I looked for common sizes to keep the cost down.

Can't believe I never thought of a leaf spring relocation kit to make it easier to tuck wider tires I wanted under the car. Does relocating the leaf springs alter the ride at all? Alter the handling?

Thanks a lot, that's all I was looking for was to be able to tuck a ten inch rim back there!

Yes, but not significantly. I did the calculations once and I think the 1" kit alters wheel rate something like 10-12# and the 3" kit changes it around 25-30 #, in other words, not enough for most people to notice the change.

I did the 1" kit on my Challenger and I've got a 10" wheel with a 12" tire and still have plenty of room.

Now here is a question, typically, how much does it run to widen a rim, and where would i go to do something like that?

You can't widen a rim. A stock set-up will take an 8" wide rim in the rear if it has the correct backspacing. To move up to 10" rims, you will need to move the leaf springs in some.

Depends on the rim. Some can be, some can't.

Not sure why you can't fit 10" rims back there?  I am running 275/60's on a 10" rim. Not much room left, but they fit...no rubbing.
