They are talking about a replacement for the Challenger called Barracuda, supposed to happen around 2015. It is suposed to be smaller in size similar to current Mustang; they are not sure what the powerplants will be at this time, possibly Hemi or V6 turbo or supercharging.Should be more competitive with Mustang in particular which weighs almost 700 pounds less than Challenger.

Yeah, basically.

We actually had a long discussion with the Ralph, Beth and the head of the SRT planning and development.  And the short... the next Charger/300 will probably be on some sort of combination of Fiat/Alpha/etc... platform... But FIAT doesn't have a 4-door RWD platform at the moment (which the Challenger/Cuda) would be based off of.

So while there will be some sort of platform coming eventually that will be developed in house that will be RWD and have 2-doors (not including the Viper), don't expect it for a few years.  Which means no Cuda or Challenger atleast until 2015 or so.  Which means the Challenger will be killed off probably in 2013 or 2014 for a few years like they did with the Viper as to develop a new model.

But he did say one thing that was really interesting.... We have been resurrecting some classic name plates... you never know what might pop up next (he then smirked).  So we shall see.

You can see some of the videos I took talking to Ralph, Beth and the SRT guy about this at my YouTube Channel below.

I'm all for reviving old names, but I'm tired of seeing them on boring, lifeless, "look like everything else on the road" bodies.

Charger: insult.  Avenger: flat-out joke.  Dart: uninspired...

I mean, if they want to make boring cars, by all means - just make sure they give them boring names like "Camry" or "Elantra"...
