What do you put on your exhaust studs???

I'm going to be installing my HP exhaust manifolds this weekend. I know that several of the studs go into the water jacket and require some sort of sealing compound on the threads.

I've heard people recommend using pipe dope but I was also told that pipe dope can harden and make the stud difficult to remove at a later date.

I have a container of Permatex thread sealer with Teflon on a shelf in my garage but I'm not sure how it will handle the heat.

I've also heard of using the Copper RTV silicone but how well will that do in preventing leaks?

Any suggestions or is there some secret product that works best?

I just used permatex teflon liquid sealer.

Permatex sealer with teflon is about the same as pipe dope. If you can find "The Green Stuff" pipe dope,
it works well and holds up to heat very well.
