I was there when it sold. I actually talked (very briefly) with the owner -- Wayne
- the guy who is on TV in a program called "Chasing Classic Cars" I asked him what he thought and he said it was a nice car -- then he volunteered it was his! I asked what he thought it should bring - and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "we'll find out shortly" -- It was very nice - great paint. As noted, I'm not sure what "drivetrain" includes and the hood was definitely not original. If it comes up on TV again - I'm the guy with the "Key West" shirt and black Dodge hat....
Was fun to be in the lights.
I've spent the last 2 days there -- over 2000 cars and I'm surprised by how many are selling - I bet the final tally is close to 75%. Watching Dana Mecum cut deals with sellers is sometimes very entertaining -- he's a pro and I sure wouldn't want to take him on under the pressure of having my car near the reserve... he's very cagey -- and a great deal-maker -- obviously! Overall, I was impressed with the cars - most were very nice -- not a lot of junk. I'm no expert - but the prices for some very nice MOPARS also surprised me. A TA didn't even fetch $40,000, and it was a nice car (not a color combination I would want .... but it looked pretty solid. All in all - quite a couple of days.....
