WIW 1970 Challenger
« on: February 02, 2012 - 11:36:13 AM »
Question to my Mopar friends out there....what  is a 70 Challenger, 318 console, that needs quarters and a trunk pan worth?  Rest of car looks solid, floor pans, seats, dash engine bay etc.  it is not an RT or SE or anything fancy, just a standard Challenger.

not sure.  it has been sitting for 5 years.  It was bought to clone into a hemi challenger.  Inside and the engine bay look pretty solid.  He says the frame rails are good and the metal is solid.  i plan on taking a look tomorrow, but wanted to see what a reasonable price would be.

I've been seeing alot of 318 challengers projects in the $3-6k range lately. It's tough to put a price on without pictures. I would say somewhere in that range depending how nice it is.

Just remember if they need quarters and a trunk floor they usually need wheel house work and trunk extensions and if all that stuff is bad you'll probably be messing with trunk gutters and the tail panel. Be should to carefully check all the rails, rockers, Torsion bar cross member, the windshield frame, the cowl and the door hinge areas. These areas are bear to repair.

I want to say 5K without seeing the pictures. After sitting for 5 years, the engine might be toast at this point.

From the pictures, it looks to be a complete car, minus the bits that rusted away. I would say 5 - 6K.  Maybe less, if you need to hire someone do the repairs for you. :2cents:

Pictures look better then I expected. Looks like a very complete original car. If most of the other metal is good I'd say it's worth close to $5k. Doesn't look like you'll be hunting for all kinds of parts. Cool color and AC car. Let us know how you make out.

Right, if you cannot do almost everything yourself, these clones are a money pit that you won't likely ever see daylight from.
