245/60-15's on the rear?
« on: January 26, 2012 - 01:13:44 PM »
Anyone have 245/60-15's on the rear?  I have 255/60-15's  on my '70 Challenger and in my opinion they just look too big.

I'd  love to see a picture if anyone has one, I hate to buy a set and then wish I hadn't.

I like that look, though it seems a little high in the front.  did you have to crank the front up to use the 245's?  I have 235's up front and it's close to grabbing the top of the wheel lip in a turn if you hit a bump.

No, I don't recall raising the front beyond what fresh Monroe Gas-matics would have.

My computer has been down so just saw your post.  I have 245-60-15's all around on my 70 Challenger.  The pictures were taken shortly after a complete reassembly so the car has settled almost an inch all around since driving it.  There is no problem with clearance in the front.  I wish now I had gone 255's on the rear because I would like for the rear to sit a bit higher and it would reduce my revs while making my speedometer more accurate. It does look good however with the 245's adequately filling the opening but with ample room for larger rubber.  Guess it is a matter of personal preference.  PK

Arcticmopar, whats your clearance like on the back? Is there room for anything bigger? How close is the tire to the suspension? Would a wider tire/rim work or would that require major mods?

No room against the wheelwell but a couple of inches to the spring yes. Its been years since I measured the backspacing but I think it's about 3 1/2 inches?
People are fitting 9.5 with more backspacing, see the tire fitment guide on here.
