Was it making noise before the bearing inspection? Can you hear it inside the car or outside the car? Does it bind up? What kind of noise? Did you have someone turn the wheel back and forth (car running IN NEUTRAL) and look underneath to check all components? etc.Just some tips on maybe chasing the gremlin down!

power steering or manual?  If power steering, it could be the pump.

none of the above,it is coming from the column inside the car.thinking the can and bearing housing are rubbing . Will be putting a tread up tonight on changing bearing housing.
