:cooldancing:  What's the difference in a Resto-Mod and a Pro-Touring?   In building a resto-mod what are the main changes made to the ebody? Thanks, flash

I think it's the degree of modification. To me, a resto-mod would literally be a restored car with SOME modification, usually the engine/trans/diff. while a pro touring would have all the former AND an aftermarket suspension, rack and pinion, air ride, body and interior mods, etc. For the truly deep pocketed, one often begets the other.  :2cents:

The way I understand restomod, it's restoring a car not to factory spec, but to a condition it might have been in "back in the day," using period correct aftermarket items like wheels and aftermarket gauges and things like that.

 :iagree:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_restoration

"Restoration is sometimes confused with the term "restomod." A restomod places some portions of the car as they were when the car was first offered for sale, and changes (updates) others. If any part of the car is updated, the car has been "restomodded," and not restored. An "original restoration" puts a car in the same condition as when it was first offered for sale."

There's a reason the word "Resto" isn't in the term "Pro-Touring"....Most of the "Pro-Touring" cars more resemble SCCA race cars than musclecars. While they maintain an original body with slight to wild mods, this is where it tends to end with the "Factory" type thing.

Where as a "Restomod" tends to look more like a factory musclecar, upgraded with 15-17" wheels, usually no roll cage, orignal interior, with a modded engine/trans/rear. still retain most of the factory suspension.

I would definie pro-touring as the modifying of a car with better than stock equipment including all the things listed
Handling
Braking
Safety
Accelleration
Driveability
Reliability
Comfort

My list would include all aspects of performance: bigger wheels don't always mean better or pro-touring just adding larger wheels puts you in the restomod group. insanely large wheels puts you in group all your own.  :22yikes:

Some would say you have to actually race your car on a track to be a pro-touring type car  :burnout:

Simply said; It is a style, it implies performance, actual or percieved...
