One of the things I love about being back home in Southern California is finding driver cars still out there (I have to stare at Citroens, Seats and Renaults for the next six months, ack...).

I spied this thing in the high school parking lot, so immediately I had to investigate. It is a 318/3-speed Highline, Yellow with a black interior. I saw the car had black plates on it, which made me suspect it was an early build car. The VIN sequence was in the mid 700's (10074X), meaning if my math is correct, this thing was built at the LA plant, the second day of production, Saturday August 2, 1969!

Well, I thought I had more pictures, but I don't see anything else on my computer. I did see that it had wheel lip moldings, and a flip top cap. I really wish I got the picture of the three speed knob with the console...

Anybody recognize this thing??

I have only seen it once. MB is a very affluent area, but methinks sonny was rocking his dad's car, or it might have been a faculty/staff car. Either way,  :2thumbs:

FYI: August 2nd would be 802, not A02.
