What Do you think of these
« on: March 02, 2005 - 12:39:27 PM »
I know this is a Mopar site and Im a Mopar Lover  2 for 2 right now, But with the Dodge line up ,  I like small sporty cars,  drove an SRT 4 yesterday there fun, but holy cow   Tiny.         I  like the stratus rt but there to cheap and they fall like rocks.

This leaves me with a few options    big car (hemi)   dodge decides to build a small sporty car worth a darn.

Or     Benz, BMW, Audi, Saab, Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Chevy, Subaru, Jaguar, and a few more.

This thing is Intriguing right now

These things are sporty 298hp 6spd and just over 30k  Ill wait till they hit 20-25k.

Does anyone have any suggestions.   I like the TT's but there audi's and the Japs make a better car and there 10k more, Bmw benz and lexus are not my taste.  The US line up sucks and everything else is to expensive.

There are a lot of cars out that are worth buying, some foreign and some domestic and as  usual it depends what your looking for. It sounds like you want a fast four-door family car, so ill try to take a shot at this. Lets start with the domestics, that was short.....Now lets go to the imports, you have many to choose from, Ill list a couple and give you my feedback.

Mazda 6 - My sister has one and its a nice car. It handles good, drives smooth, has enough hp to keep her happy(225) and looks pretty good. The only problem she had was a bad engine module, which was taken care of with no questions asked. Within a couple of months there will be a mazdaspeed edition released with 270+ hp, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Infiniti G35 - This seems to be the car that a lot of people pick up that are looking for what your looking for. I have heard nothing but positive feedback about these cars. If you want good resale and enough "go" to keep you happy, then this is a nice choice.

Acura TL - I have a cousin that has one of these and I can vouge that the car is pretty agile. Being FWD wheel hop is a problem, but nonetheless its a nice car and has a lot of creature comforts. The only problems that my cousin has had with his TL was that he blew the engine, but that was his fault (dropped it into 2nd at 70 MPH), so dont blame it on honda....i mean acura.

Subaru WRX/STi - there are a couple of subarus that meet your criteria, all of them are really well built and are good performer, but they all arent exactly the best looking cars. On the plus side, subarus are easy to mod and you easily could have a 12 seconds family car.

Mitsubishi EVO - I presonally think that these cars are ugly, but the engine more than makes up for it. If you want a cheap low 13 second car with ****ty resale value, than this is the car for you. For the price you could just go buy an SRT-4, put an AGP turbo upgrade on it and run low 12s.

There are a bunch more, but I never driven/know someone that owns one, so I feel that I would just be giving a magazines point of view. On a side note, have you looked into the charger? It has the "go" and four doors that your looking for. The pictures dont do it justice, so I recommend seeing it in life. Also, there is always the GTO or CTS-v, both of which are really nice cars.
70 Challenger R/T SE - The never-ending project........

Ever consider an 8? Its something different.

Mazda RX8
MSRP Price: $27,435

Engine
Size: 1.3 liter
Type: Renesis 2-rotor rotary engine
Horsepower: 238 hp at 8,500 rpm
Torque: 159 @ 5500 rpm
Drivetrain: RWD
Transmission: 6 Speed Manual

It also seats 4 adults comfortably with no pillars and suicide doors. It handles tight corners very smooth and is a relatively fun car to drive.  The only thing its missing is the low-end torque, but does well the the high-end torque.

Heh, I forgot that I was gonna add a link....http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayHomepage.action

Uhhhh...ever drive a 300C...looks like 4 doors to me...345 hp too????

I'm not a GM man myself...but GTO comes to mind also.

I'd take the 300C over the gto anyday..and when the srt8 comes out...

Our next new car will more than likely be a 300C hemi..my wife wants a car with 4 doors, and an automatic trans.

2 DOORS, ALL OF THOSE CARS 2 DRS        I HAVE DRIVEN THE 300 AND THE MAGNUM , THERE NICE BUT A LITTLE BIG, THE EVO IS NICE BUT EXPENSIVE, VERY YOUNG (im 23)  not my taste and there ugle (bring back the 3000gt and the stealth)  Subarus are nice but ugly.   The TL is not my flavor I prefer Nissans to Honda's,  I refuse to own a Ford and the Wankle is a gas hog and has 2 many doors.  I guess fwd is ok but the G35 is a rwd and that is definantly prefered over a fwd on a 298hp 6speed  torque steer.   Ill have to go test on of these out some day.

But I like to hear 1st hand point of views on peoples experiances.

Ive driven Lexus ls430-  to big and heavy even with the V-8
the srt4 is fun but has to many doors, is a neon, and Im to tall to ride in. and did  Isay 4doors.
the magnum and 300c are very nice but the full equiped is 40k and there 30 in no time 20 in another year.
Ive be in a mazda 6  :ack:  there ugly.
I think that the Infinity is a little more Mid age 25-35 relm and not 16-25, plus it had a 298hp v-6 and its easier to get some more power from an already producing more normaly aspirated 6 adding a power booster turbo/blower.   than hopping up the turbo 4 more, even thought there easier, I guess its   just preference.

Anyone else drive any 2 doors.

I had a 2001 Nissan Altima (yeah I know it's 4 door) but it was a blast to drive. 245 horse, black with black leather interior, traction control, loaded, stickered for about 28,500 and to me very stylish for a 4 door and they have a ton of interior room. I'd have another one if I wasn't such a truck nut.

Just my .02
