Drivers remote mirror hw
« on: February 25, 2012 - 01:28:55 PM »
Hey all, I just installed the side-view mirrors last night and I'm looking at the hw I had in the ziplock bag. It seems like I'm missing some things. The hole on the door panel is keyed so the controller only goes in one way but I don't have a key on the controller. I also have 2 chrome ring/nuts that thread onto the mirror control unit but the hole in the door seems like it would need something else.

I would think that the controller goes through the door and something holds it in place solid. Then the outer ring would thread on after the door panel is in place. The problem is that the hole in the door is pretty big and a single 'nut' won't secure it.

Does anyone have any pictures of how this goes back together. I would think it's pretty simple. I guess the worse case would be to just get another washer/nut to hold it on the door. I suppose that the door I have is different than the one I replaced related to the mirror remote mount.

Thoughts?

Thanks again.

:iagree:
Look for a square flat piece that threads onto to remote operator. It's the part that butts up against the backside of the panel so the chrome interior nut can tighten up against the other side of the panel. (hopefully my description makes sense...  ::))

Thanks for the help. One other question. Is the remote controller loose until it's attached to the door panel?

Well my sheetmetal piece for behind the door is square, but probably does the same job. Yes the remote operator is loose when not attached to the door panel. There are one (or two?) plastic clips that hold the wires somewhat secure in the door so they don't flop around.
