Window Crank Springs
« on: February 24, 2012 - 03:59:20 PM »
I was wondering if anyone can tell me it the driver and passenger door window cranks have "springs" in them like the rear quarter windows do.  The purpose of the springs in the rear quarter window is to supply "preload" the interior plastic rear panel to the window crank and spacer. When I disassembled my car years ago, there were no springs in the front.  Does anyone know if they should have been in there?  The car is a 70 challenger.

Just took my left door and left rear quarter apart yesterday and there was Not a spring on the door crank, as matter of fact none of my cranks had springs. However I did find a spring on the bottom attachment bolt of the rear quarter glass' where the bolted to the front track. I took a couple of pics.

I do not know if this is correct however my windows worked fine. I figured the spring was to be an anti rattle piece for the of the glass frame.

Hope this will help.

I think they're only on the backs.

Then again, my car could just be missing them too. :-)

Yes, I believe also they are only on the rears.  Its just that I saw a vendor advertising they go on the front and rears, and I could not find them on the front when I disassembled my car.  Now that is going back together, just thought I'd check

Thanks

I`m pretty sure I had them in front .  They are a larger diametre.  They are pretty easy to lose or forget, so I guess there`s a bunch of cars that dont have em.

Mine has them on the front as well as the rear. '73 Challenger, maybe the year might make a difference.
