So, maybe if I reduce my expectations a bit, I could get my cuda sooner....

And the minute that 71 318 arrives here I'll see a 'real' hemi for sale on this list for a comparable price
and have buyers remorse.

The advantage to getting a car that's not quite what I want is more availability and 'no rules' to the restoration.

I hear what you guys are saying, and you're probably right. I think I'll hang tough for a wee bit longer, its
a chick thing.  ;)   This economy is getting nothing but worse, someone's loss could be my gain.

I loved that line about the guy driving his other hemi like its stolen!  Brilliant!

There were only 115 +/- Hemi Cudas built in 71. If you open up your options to include any 71 Cuda/Barracuda then you have a choice of roughly 16,500 cars (Original production, not taking into account cars that have been put to rest). That way you can be a little more picky on color, options, and amount of work involved to get the car finished the way you want it. In a perfect world you could find the exact car you wanted, all finished but with an empty engine bay, just begging for a Hemi to be dropped in. I'm going the long route by turning a 72 into a 71, but all the bits that need to be replaced to make it look like a 71 would have needed to be replaced anyway. When the car is done it's going to be the exact car I would order if it was in the dealership today.
I may have repeated myself a little from my other post, and if I did I apologize.

My  :2cents: I think it is all BS.
My friend has a 71 RR. V code 440-6 pac. he was heading to a car show.
Engine grenaded. Driving in traffic oil pressure failure.
He had another 440 block built and added his accessories from the grenaded engine.
The engine builder asked if he wanted the original engine code stamped on the block or
a blank.  Yes, it can be done.  I'll bet there are a lot of them out there.
There are many muscle cars with replacement engines due to drag racing or in my friends case,
oil pressure failure or swap 6 cyl.
or 318 for the almighty H E M I.
Now is this car still original because of an unfortunate engine failure??
It still has a 440 engine not a 383 or hemi.  I think it is all BS.
Put a HEMI in it and the value doubles, but it is not original. WT .  :banghead:
The HEMI is the culprit. Kill the HEMI  :swear:

Well I dont know if I want to kill the HEMI (NO)!
NIKKI's a real R/T but not a HEMI R/T... I've heard so much BS over the years about this and that (pro & cons) that it gets on your nerves some days.I've heard it ALL believe me and has left me coming accross like an a-hole more than once.  If it was a "real" one I'd be afraid to drive her.   :2cents:
70 Chally R/T Convertible- Yes she's really got a HEMI, no she's not a Charger!

I'll consider re-considering my 'wants'....  and as soon as the car shows start up again that just might
push me over the edge.

There is a lot to be said for buying a 'less desirable' e-body. My car was a 318 auto. Now a 440 4sp. I have absolutely no second thoughts about modding or altering the car the way I want it. I don't have to worry about a finacial hit if I stray from stock. I like the T/A spoiler so I drilled holes and put one on. I like wheel well trim so I bought and installed them. I want fatter tires on the back so I'm in the middle of moving the springs in. A lot of freedom when you don't have a 'one of  105' car.  :2cents:

Still drool over the rare ones though  :grinyes:

I just like to :stirpot: to get reactions.
Since a lot of us didn't have the opportunity to purchase our e-body or any 60's to 70's Mopar new and it doesn't have the options
we would like to have we can built it to our personal touch.

Granted the HemI made the Mopars.  Made drag racing. Technology today has taken the HemI to a new dimension.
I like the  old 440-6 Pac. Early HemI to much keeping it tuned.
