« on: April 05, 2012 - 11:55:30 PM »
I know I have been through all of this before but summer is coming and I am starting to see lots of nice cars on the road meanwhile my $30,000+ car sits in my garage and I  can"t drive it. I really feel like kicking someones a$$.

Thank you very much Gary. :puke:

Advice on long term storage
« on: April 03, 2012 - 08:56:23 AM »QuoteI will be storing my car away in a corner of my garage for at least a few years. The engine is out of the car. Any advice as to things that I should be doing to the car while it is in hibernation?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I saw a challenger in Grand Rapids, Mi today and thought it is time to start driving a car.   I have 2 and neither one has been out.  :dunno:

So you have $30k in to your Chally and need how much more to make it a safe driver?  I recall your situation and certainly understand how this has impacted you, your family finances and even your relationship.  I guess the bottom line is you made a mistake (trusted without verifying) and now you and your family/wife are up against the wall. It all comes down to passion.  If you are passionate about getting this car on the road & driving it, talk to your wife about you taking on a 2nd job for a limited time to pay for the parts & labor to get the car operational. If you have lost the passion for the car, then sell it and realize the true cost of trusting without verifying (we have all been in your shoes at one time or another) and then start saving up for your next ride.  We all wish you well and know that you will continue to focus on what's most important which is your relationship on the homefront.

Just remember, that feeling you have/had? Has sold a many a PIECE OF SH*T on E-Pay!!

Happens to all of us.

I NEVER look at how much is invested in my rides. Don't wanna actually, cause then I'd be as depressed as you are/were.

Keep your head up and soon, just remember, Someone else will be feeling this way about YOUR RIDE when they see it.

:iagree:  I agree with Cooter.  Don't look back at what you've spent.  If we all think about how much we've spent over the years on cars, booze, gambling and other things we'll all be in major depression!!!!!  Crap, my basement is loaded with all sorts of diecast, rc cars/trucks, models....if I saved all that money and put it toward my car....geeze, don't even want to think about it.... now I'm depressed...  :(  Just kidding!  ;)

But you know what, it's a hobby and it's for your enjoyment.  Keep it that way.  I know it has no engine right now, but roll it out in the sun and just look at it.  My car isn't running right now, justa  carb issue I've been dealing with but I still love to look at it and "pat it's behind" when I walk by it.  (don't tell the wife, I do this more with my car than with her!!!!   :roflsmiley: )

Even if the engine is out and has issues, is the rest of the car safe to drive?  Can you temporarily put an engine in you can find cheap that's running and get it driveable?  :clueless:
