Rally Gauge Repair?
« on: March 16, 2012 - 06:46:12 PM »
I have a rally dash that the Voltage limiter let go on and toasted my gauges. I have been been trying to contact Real Time but they have been bought out and changed their name to Dash Worx. For some reason they wont respond to my emails or my phone calls. Now its to the point where I would send them to whoever if it means getting them fixed. Anyone know someone or a company that repairs the internals? It would really help me out.

I really want/need a couple of those electronic dash voltage limiters as well, and maybe even the tach board. I haven't tried contacting them yet. Looks like the only other option would be someone like Redline Gauge Works or something where they completely replace all working parts with VDO gauges or something.I don't want my Mopar burning to the ground because of dash gauges. I want to ditch the ammeter and go voltmeter as well. But look stock.

:working:I would not use dash worx.i bought a complete rally dash rebuilt by them.the clock worked two days.the speedo was sticking 1t 15mph after three wks.i sent it back 10/30/11 & got it back 2/15/12.ask them to set the miles on the speedo did not do that.took it to a local shop & they set the miles on it for me.there are other venders out there that do the same service.have not seen dask worx advertise in mcg anymore.

I've hear a few bad things about "tachman".  I sent my cluster out to Glen at GCAR.  He refaced the guages, rebuilt the clock with quartz internals, rebuilt and relettered the speedo(kept the accual mileage like I asked) upgraded the voltage limiter, calibrated the tach and checked the amp gauge for any damage.  It wasn't cheap but it was a lot less expensive then the other guys.

Do you happen to have a phone number or email to glen. I tried calling tachman over the past week or two and haven't gotten a reply or answer.

I would avoid "Tachman".  He did a complete workover on my rallye dash.  He supposedly put an MSD compatible board in the tach, but it wouldn't work and then his response was to blame MSD, even though he knew I had MSD ignition.  The dash had to come back out and I put in a new Y1 stock tach and the MSD adaptor per the MSD tech line and that solved the problem.

I'll second that. I got my gauges done there.

I called everyone that was suggested. even the tachman and didn't get any replies. Yesterday though I stumbled upon an ad in Car Craft magazine called "How to restore your mopar Dash." The article had some good stuff in it but nothing that I wanted to attempt. There was a shop featured in there called redline gauge works. Sent them an email last night and he called me today. Ended up buying a new gauge and voltage limiter from him. Wile he did repairs cost was so close to a new gauge I decided to take that route. So i will be selling all of my toasted gauges out of my rallye dash if anyone is interested. (Temp, oil and fuel) Thanks guys for suggesting all of the places.

When you install your new gauges, but sure to upgrade to a solid state voltage regulator.   Mopar Action did a writeup on it several years ago.
