Brake kit comparison...

I don't know if this has been done but I thought it was worth asking.

Is there a thread that goes over the different aftermarket drum to disc conversion kits out there and pointers? It sure would be nice to know which ones work well and what gotchas to look out for.

Especially when building up a nice 440 it is very beneficial to stop the Cuda when needed.

It all depends on how much you want to spend.Are you talking front or rear brakes?

I installed a Right stuff detailing power disc conversion on my fathers 71 challenger. Everything was included and fit well. It stops way better now. Overall it is a nice kit at a good price.

I can't say I've ever seen anyone list out all the different and available kits out there, but I'm sure there are a few. If one could be put together, it would make a good sticky note.

I thought I would start with a front drum to disc conversion.

I guess we can start with listing out the different manufacturers:

Right Stuff
Wilwood
Stainless Steel
JustPowerBrakes
Dynalite

Feel free to add others and your experiences and photos with this conversion. I'm sure this will help all members on this board. To give you an example I've used SS conversion kits on another ride of mine and while it worked good in the short term the master cylinder was a piece of junk and had to be replaced.

Let's keep this going...

I also used the right stuff brakes front drum to disc conversion.  I stuck with manual and think it cost around $700 for everything

I just did a lot of research over the winter and decided on Baer systems front and rear based on quality,parts availability and price point . Also worth noting is a significant weight savings total of 45 pounds, 15 on front and 30 on rear of un-sprung weight compared to the factory 73 up 11" front system and 11" rear drum setup.More picks on Moparts site .

Rear setup ,I have installed the rear kit and brake feel and power is much improved as opposed to the 11" drum that was in very good , like new condition with carbon fiber shoes.

Dynalite is a caliper family offered by Wilwood. Others in their line up also include Dynapro, Superlite, W6, TC6, D154, D52, etc.
