Rocker replacment

Guess what I am doing this week-end, replacing a set of Pro-Form rockers with a set of Hughes 1.5 rockers.  Had 100 miles on my new motor bent a push rod and lifter came out of is bore, lost all oil pressure and clanking valve train....Hopefully this will solve/fix my issues

915 heads (mild head work, stock bottom end 10/9:1 compression)
A518 2600-2800 Stall
4.10 rear gear
TTI headers with 3' exhaust with  X pipe 
comp XE274H cam
Hughes Roller Rockers
Holley Sniper EFI
Holley Street Dominator intake
MSD ignition

Assuming you're using hydraulic lifters, hopefully you've read around to find what adjustments people are using.  I believe 3/4 turn past snug is the winner.  Some have stories of the pushrod jumping out (then possibly bending) if it's tightened to only 1/2 turn past.

Thanks for  that good info, I know for sure that my push rods were to short I had the adjuster screw almost fully at their maximum adjustment from what I  have gathered  they  only should be one or two threads past the bottom edge of the roller of the rocker arm for a correct length push rod, and the adjustable part of the rocker is for preload only,  which sounds as if it should be 3/4 turn past that. Hughes sent me the adjustable push rod and lifter tool to measure the correct length of the push rod. Hopefully I can get my valve train geometry correct using this as my starting point, the sad thing is I had a very reputable mopar engine builder build my engine too.

Agreed.  That's a bummer.  You may consider letting him know you're unhappy with how the pushrods/rockers were put together.

Post up and tell us what the correct length should be and what length you had in there.  I'm curious what the difference in length is.

one issue is that the motor was done about 5 years ago, thought I would have gotten everything done a little faster, but had two kids going to catholic high school where I coached football and wrestling had a major change in my work schedule....so things got put on hold and with little or time but I am back track with a very flexible work schedule again and both kids are graduated,  so I have the time to get it done
