14 x 7 rims on B Body?
« on: June 02, 2003 - 07:42:33 PM »
My 66 Satellite has F70 x 14s on 5.5" rims. The rims have 3.5" backspacing. I want to mount 225/70x14 s. I figure a 7" rim is a good size rim for that tire. Anyone have any experience putting 14 x 7 rims on a B body? I'm guessing I'll have to keep the backspacing at 3.5" with the 14 x 7s. The lower ball joints are only about an inch to an inch and a quarter away from the tire now. Any input appreciated.

Hmmm, I don't know specifically about a 1966, but later B-bodys came with the 15x7''s as an option, so I'd wonder that 14x7 would be OK.

If someone ordered a Hemi in their 66 Satellite, wouldn't it have came with 15x6.5" steel rims ??

Nope, 66 Hemi Satellite came with 7.75 x 14 Goodyear Blue Streaks. The factory rims are 14 x 5.5. I don't know if there were any other options available as far as tires and rims go.

I don`t see a problem with the 7" rims on the 66 , but iI would still test fit them for backspace clearance , you are only gaining 3/4" on each sid eof the wheel , the Mopars are not that tight
