Power Steering Pump Replacement

I'm gearing up to replace my leaky power steering pump on my '72 Challenger.  While I'm there, I'm also changing out the old high pressure and low pressure hoses.

It's been a long time since I've done this job, so any tips and tricks to removing/installing the pump and the high pressure hose?

I see that the new high pressure hose comes with washers to prevent leaks, but does it need anything else to ensure a tight seal?

Is the pump bad or does it just leak?  You can pick up a rebuild kit for under $20.  It will come with all new 0-rings and a shaft bushing.  You need to take off the reservoir anyway.  That's the hardest part of the job...not bending the reservoir.

Get a rebuilt kit,Easy to do.I would walk you thru it if needed.

I agree with you there!  The new pump comes with a clear label about not prying on the reservoir.

It seems like a fairly straightforward job, but I know there is always room for surprises.   :working:
